Preparation of a Deliverer (Exodus 2-4)

  1. Moses, a picture of Christ
    1. Moses was a divinely chosen deliverer
      • Exodus 3:1,2 -- "Moses... and the angel of the Lord appeared unto him"
      • Exodus 3:9,10 -- "Come now, therefore, and I will send thee"
    2. Rejected by "his own," Moses goes to Midian
    3. During Moses' rejection by "his own," he gains a Gentile bride
    4. Afterward Moses again appears as Israel's deliverer and is accepted
  2. Christ the Redeemer
    1. Christ is our Deliverer
    2. Christ, rejected by the Jews, turned to the Gentiles
      • John 1:11 -- "His own received Him not"
      • Luke 20:2 -- "By what authority?"
      • Mark 16:15 -- "Go ye into all the world"
      • Acts 28:25-28 -- "The heart of this people is waxed gross... the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles"
    3. Christ's bride is the Church
    4. Christ will return again and be accepted
  3. Moses typifies Christ as:
    1. Prophet
    2. Advocate
    3. Intercessor
    4. Leader

      Moses and Christ were both "faithful," but Moses was a faithful servant, while Christ was a faithful Son (see Hebrews 3:5,6).
